Privacy Policy

CareOfCanada is a Telugu Canadian community platform. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, community features, Apple and Google sign-in, admin chat, and related tools.
Information We Collect
CareOfCanada collects account details such as your email and display name. You may provide a profile photo, gender, city or province, newcomer status, posts, replies, photos, videos, and admin chat messages. We also store follows, reactions, saved preferences, and activity needed to operate the community. If you enable notifications, we store a device push token and related device information to deliver them.
How We Use Information
We use information to provide login, profiles, community posts, admin chat, notifications, local updates, safety moderation, product improvement, and communication about CareOfCanada services.
Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google, CareOfCanada receives basic profile information such as your name, email address, and profile picture through Supabase authentication. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Sign in with Apple
If you sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email address, or a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email. CareOfCanada uses an Apple identity token through Supabase authentication to sign you in. We do not receive or store your Apple ID password.
Community Content
Public posts, replies, display names, cities, photos, cheers, and community activity may be visible to other visitors. Do not post passport numbers, immigration documents, phone numbers, private addresses, or sensitive personal details.
Marketplace Listings
If you post an item or room listing, its title, description, city, price, photos, and your display name may be visible to visitors. Signed-in members can leave public comments on active listings; their display names and comments are visible to visitors. Authors, listing owners, and admins can remove comments from public view, and members can report them. A signed-in member can also send you a private contact request; the request message and your response are available only to the buyer, seller, and authorized CareOfCanada administrators. You can reply or decline without sharing a phone number. A WhatsApp number is optional. If you provide one, we store it with your listing and administrators can access it for moderation. It is not public: only a buyer whose request you approve with Share WhatsApp can open a link containing your number. They may see and save the number in WhatsApp, which handles the conversation under its own privacy practices. Closing a listing stops new contact links from being issued; it does not delete the stored listing or number, and anyone who already obtained your number may retain it. Do not put your number, exact address, or other private details in listing text, comments or photos. We store reports and moderation decisions to help keep the marketplace safe.
Confessions
Signed-in members can share text-only Confessions without showing their name, profile photo, city, or profile link to readers. CareOfCanada privately keeps the account linked to each Confession so the author can delete it and we can investigate reports, prevent abuse, and remove content when an account is deleted. Avoid including identifying details in the text itself; a Confession is not untraceable.
Spotify Previews
When you choose to open a Spotify player in a community post, Spotify provides the embedded playback experience. Spotify may use cookies and similar technologies and receive usage information through its widget. Playback availability depends on Spotify and your device. You can manage cookies in your browser or device settings.
Spotify Privacy PolicyActive Status
Active Status is on by default for members. When you have recently used CareOfCanada, other signed-in members may see a green dot on your profile photo. The dot disappears after you stop using the app or move it to the background. You can turn Active Status off at any time in My Canada; it stays off unless you turn it on again.
Birthday Wishes
You can optionally provide your birthday month and day; we do not need your birth year for this feature. We store it privately to send you a birthday wish. Sharing with followers is off by default. If you turn it on, your followers may receive a birthday reminder with your display name and a link to your profile on that day. You can change your choice or remove the date in Birthday wishes on your profile. We do not use this date to verify your age.
Admin Chat
Messages sent through admin chat are private between your signed-in account and CareOfCanada administrators. We use them to respond to support, meetup, report, partnership, and community questions.
Canada Adda Group Chat
Eligible CareOfCanada members are added to Canada Adda, our shared group chat, unless they previously left or were restricted. Other group members can see your public display name, messages, replies, reactions, and message times. This is not private messaging. You can mute or leave immediately and rejoin later, but leaving does not erase messages you already sent. You may edit recent messages or remove your own messages from member view. CareOfCanada retains message records and reports for moderation and safety until account deletion or applicable retention requirements. Admins may remove messages or restrict abusive accounts. Do not share private contact details or sensitive information in the group.
Service Providers
CareOfCanada uses trusted platforms such as Supabase for authentication/database, Vercel for hosting/analytics, Apple and Google for sign-in, Google for analytics, and email/community tools where needed.
Your Choices
You can sign out, avoid public posting, or delete your account in My Canada under Account deletion. If you cannot sign in, you can request deletion using the public account-deletion page. Some information may be retained where needed for security, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
